Wild Play Days in Kirkby Stephen

Sign

Jubilee Park in Kirkby Stephen was the coolest place to be for three days last July in more ways than one. Our child-led woodland play days were supported by We Are Team and funded by Westmorland Dales Landscapes Partnership.

The children involved had been referred to the project, including but not exclusively, those on free school meal and young carers. We spent those very hot summer days relaxing under the shade of the trees, exploring the woods, cooking lime tree leaf chocolate puds, making crafts,  archeology (we dug up a donkey see picture above), shops that were run on a pine cone economy, a puppet show, swings and hammocks for essential chilling out, dens and so much more. We love that this project gave the children the space to follow their play needs as well as trying new things and building on skills that interest them.

Here’s to another playful summer, we’re planning to return to Jubilee Park this August!
